CIVICS
AND CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION:
A study of parents'
attitudes 1997-98
This
substantial qualitative and quantitative
study examined attitudes of parents to
civics and citizenship education. It was
commissioned by the Australian Parents
Council (APC), funded by the Department
of Education, Training and Youth Affairs
(DETYA), and carried out with as a collaboration
between APC and the Australian Council
of State School Organisations (ACSSO).
Theere are three reports. Report 1 is
on the qualitative phase, Report 2 on
the quantitative, and Report 3 summarises
both. It was used to stimulate debate
on the issue and a forum arranged by the
APC in Sydney in early 1998.
